The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, payments, and account reconciliations within a manufacturing environment. This role supports month-end close, maintains strong vendor relationships, and ensures compliance with internal controls and company policies. Experience using Sage accounting software and prior exposure to manufacturing operations are required.
Key Responsibilities
- Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, including 3-way matching (PO, receiving, invoice)
- Review, code, and enter invoices accurately in Sage
- Resolve invoice discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, freight, and manufacturing variances
- Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
- Maintain vendor master data and respond to supplier inquiries
- Reconcile AP subledger to the general ledger and assist with month-end close
- Prepare AP accruals related to inventory, raw materials, and plant expenses
- Support audits by providing AP documentation and schedules
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, approval workflows, and company policies
- Collaborate with purchasing, receiving, and plant operations teams
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software (required)
- Strong understanding of inventory-related AP, freight, and manufacturing cost flows
- Experience with purchase orders and receiving processes
- Proficient in Excel (lookup formulas, filtering, reconciliations)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
